{ham and broccoli bake}

1 loaf day old french bread, cubed
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
2 c. frozen chopped broccoli (I used fresh)
2 c. cubed fully cooked ham
4 eggs
2 c. milk
1/4 t pepper

Toss bread cubes with butter. Place half in a greased 13 in. x 9 in. x 2 in. baking dish. Top with half of the cheese and broccoli; sprinkle with ham. Top with remaining broccoli, cheese and bread cubes.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk and pepper. Pour over casserole. Cover and refrigerate overnight. (I refrigerated from about noon - 5:30) Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake uncovered, at 350 for 35-40 min. or until knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 min. before cutting. YIELD: 8 servings

At that hectic dinner time all I had to do was stick it in the oven. One of n8's top ten meals which is saying something. Good for kids too - it's basically little chunks of everything good. bread, meat and vegetable with a little bit of egg and milk. Aria ate all that was on her plate. Yay!
